Eclipsn't

Today's annular eclipse path ran through Oregon, to the south of us, but we were projected to see the sun 75% occluded. Unfortunately it was thickly cloudy and I could not have even told you where the sun was.

It got cold, though, sudden and eerie, even in the house. I wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and watched the dark sky.

Anyone else have better eclipse luck?

Ah, sorry to hear you weren't able to see it. We did get a decent view here, though I didn't see it when it was nearest to being a full eclipse (we didn't have enough eclipse-watching glasses for everyone, so I just looked for a little while and then left the rest of the family to enjoy it), but I did get to see the weirdness of a very crescent sun (through otherwise utterly black glasses, which were also rather weird). It didn't get cold here, though! Or at least not while I was outside. Fascinating that it did there, though it does make sense. I feel like here it didn't ever even get all that dark.

Apparently, here in Edmonds I could have seen it through the cloud cover if I'd thought to look. As it was, I was outside at its peak and noticed how strange the light was--like a very heavy overcast with a corner of brilliant sun.

It's been raining all day, so we had more of an elipsis than eclipses. :)

Huge flocks of birds did abruptly roost, though, and twittered uneasily until full brightness returned.

It was only partial here (~20%) but the clouds suddenly dispersed around 1 pm. I was at the Science Centre and they gave everyone viewing glasses, which was kinda cool.

There was a protracted sun break in (north?) Seattle for the first half of the eclipse, then just enough clouds for some filtering. I was on my bike for most of it.

It didn't get COLD here but it was distinctly less WARM. Also Remy barked at the dragon that was obviously eating the sun until it went away, because he is a Good Boy.
