I am punting on the first suggestion I got, from [personal profile] twoeleven , of a forest. Forests are hard. (Though difficulty is appreciated - I want to get better at this.)

[personal profile] katherine  suggested a catfish. Catfish are not as difficult as forests, but I had not previously put much thought into their anatomy. Some swearing might have been involved. :)

[personal profile] ivy  suggested a lucky carp.

[personal profile] ysabetwordsmith  suggested Celtic knotwork. I didn't want to do a purely geometric knot, because I'm not at the skill level where my papercutting is smooth or symmetric, but [personal profile] juli  helped me find this knotwork dragon from an online book about Manx knotwork. Manx knotwork is apparently heavily influenced by Scandinavian design motifs. I had so much fun putting scales on the carp, I did the knotwork dragon scaly instead of cross-hatched.

Next: a penguin! Possibly a penguin reading a book of fish sestinas to a fuzzy baby penguin, because fish sestinas. Then a forest. Maybe. :)

EEEEEEEE!!!!!

If you do do that, could I get it for Hypothetical's room? I have finally given in and decided to do it in penguins until zie is old enough to reject my penguins and demand something else. :)
